Considered by experts to be the best of flowering native North American trees, this Carolinian has been hit hard by anthracnose. When planted with enough sun in acid, well drained moist soil and mulched they continue to prosper. Ours are grown from seeds of native St. John Valley trees. White flowers appear in April followed by bright red clusters of seeds in the fall that are highly prized by migrating birds. Fall leaf colour is excellent ranging fom scarlet to purple.
